Gastric Balloon
Gastric Balloon Placements in the UK
The gastric balloon is a non-surgical weight loss tool that helps patients tackle hunger and make lasting lifestyle changes. As CQC registered providers with a GOOD rating, we dedicate ourselves to providing patients with the correct knowledge and assistance they need to make an informed decision.
Gastric balloon placements typically take between 20–30 minutes to perform and are overseen by one of our consultant surgeons and doctors. We have a number of clinics across England and Wales, each dedicated to gastric balloon placements and weight loss surgery, meaning you don’t have to travel far to be seen.
Allure patients are required to have a BMI of at least 30 for an Orbera 365 or BIB gastric balloon. All procedures with Allure have ongoing dietitian and nurse support in the form of our dedicated aftercare service.
FDA Approved
Our Gastric Balloons

The BIB Gastric Balloon (6-Month Balloon)
The BIB 6 month gastric balloon is a weight loss balloon that stays in your stomach for up to 6 months, where it suppresses your hunger and leaves you feeling fuller for longer. This weight loss tool helps you to change your diet and lifestyle habits with the support of our team of HCPC Registered Dietitians.
The 6 month gastric balloon will require two visits to a placement centre, one for placement and another for removal, each conducted by a GMC Registered Consultant Surgeon that has been handpicked for their knowledge and expertise in their field.
The BIB requires a BMI between 30 and 50 for placement.

The Orbera 365 Gastric Balloon (12-Months)
Similar to the 6 month gastric balloon, the Orbera 365 requires two visits to one of our placement centres for placement and removal. You may have the 12 month gastric balloon in place for up to 12 months, with early removal available if you feel it is no longer necessary to maintain your weight loss. Orbera patients can typically expect a total body weight loss of between 10-18% on average.
We offer extensive diet and lifestyle habit support from our weight loss team. Weight Counselling is also available at an extra cost if you need it.
The Orbera 365 requires a BMI between 30 – 50 for placement.

Bespoke Gastric Balloon Aftercare Programme
With every procedure, we offer support from start to finish with our registered Nurses and Dieticians.
We pride ourselves on our outstanding patient care, with your initial call to us, your consultation, your weight loss surgery or procedure, and with your ongoing weight loss journey.
Regardless of the procedure you choose, we offer comprehensive dietetic support with our exceptional team of experienced HCPC-registered dietitians and ongoing support from our bariatric nurses. We also offer you the option to have weight loss counselling, at an additional fee, should you feel you need it.

Non-Invasive & Non-Surgical Gastric Balloons
Filled with a saline solution, the Orbera 365 and BIB require both an endoscopy and only a light sedation.

What is a Gastric Balloon?
The 6 and 12-month gastric balloons help you lose weight quickly in the same way. A gastric balloon procedure suppresses your appetite by temporarily taking up space in your stomach and reducing the production of ghrelin, the hunger hormone.
On average, our patients will lose 10-18% of their body weight, with the help of our dietitian’s lifestyle and diet advice. The gastric balloon is a weight loss tool that helps you make changes to your lifestyle allowing you to lose weight quickly and effectively.

Common Gastric Balloon Side Effects
In the first few days after placement, most patients will feel unwell. We recommend taking a little time off work in order to accommodate the process of your body adjusting to life with the balloon.
These short-term side effects include vomiting, nausea, and stomach cramps. You may be prescribed medication to help alleviate this as much as possible.

Gastric Balloon Eligibility Requirements
The Food and Drug administration (FDA) recently increased the minimum BMI eligibility for gastric balloons from 27 BMI to 30 BMI.
Certain medical conditions and or treatments can rule you out for a gastric balloon, for example any form of previous bariatric surgery and Crohn’s disease would make you ineligible, to name a couple. Our team of Orbera 365 and BIB gastric balloon specialists will be able to discuss this with you in further detail.
Gastric Balloon Cost
0% Split Finance
Our balloons start from £3450 with 0% split-finance options over 6 months, available with a 50% deposit. Find more information relating to the cost of all our gastric balloon programmes below or get in touch with a member of our team.
